Early Warning Signs of a Heart Attack

Bookmark and Share

It is possible to detect whether a person is having a heart attack but the signs can be different for the two sexes.

Whether male or female, being made aware of the heart attack signs is vital in getting treatment early and possibly saving a life.

You should be looking for pain, or feelings of discomfort, in the chest area, possibly even in the jaw, back or even stomach. The arms may also be affected. Particularly in men, there may also be symptoms such as sweating, nausea, shortness of breath, or even a feeling of dizziness. Women can experience similar symptoms and their nausea may even be accompanied by vomiting.

Many people have experienced these symptoms, but because they suddenly disappear, they don't report the incident. Often, folks think that it may be caused by stress or flu. This is dangerous and all symptoms such as these should be reported to a medical professional.

There are many common signals that people experience when having a heart attack. However, the situation is complicated and there are many 'individual' symptoms that may indicate that a heart attack is occurring. Feelings of tiredness, stomach pain, toothache and headache, may also be important signs.

The most serious heart attack, is one that has no symptoms - a sudden silent cardiac arrest. In this situation, speed is of the essence and the unfortunate individual experiencing the heart attack must obviously get to hospital as soon as possible. There is the strong possibility of a second (more serious) attack, so speed is of the essence.

In fact, in all cases, speedy emergency care is needed, however mild the symptoms might be. In hospital, the chances of survival are much greater. Waiting can seriously increase the chance of permanent heart damage or even lead to a fatality.

And finally, watching somebody experience a heart attack can be a very frightening experience. Do not be afraid to ask for help. Your judgement may be impaired if it is a family member who is suffering. Take no chances, there may be a good samaritan nearby who may be able to think quicker than you can in this stressful situation. Professional, medical help is needed as soon as possible.
